Interview with Sade guitarist Stewart Matthewman. July 2011.

Last summer’s Sade show at New Orleans Arena was the only good arena show I have ever seen. I thought I might not get to go at all, until at the last minute Gambit Weekly — for whom I’d written a Sade concert preview — gave me free 10th row tickets. I had been to a few big shows like that and had come to the conclusion that arena shows just sucked. But it turned out that, in the past, only my seats had sucked. The Sade show was amazing.

Here is my interview with Stewart Matthewman, provider of trademark sax and minimal guitar for Sade throughout the band’s entire career.

And here is my favorite Sade song, ever. Ever. As performed on the Chris Rock show!
